David Sevick  |  Founder, Executive Director

Dave’s career spans more than 30 years in the non-profit sector, with strong concentration in marketing, communications, public/media relations and fundraising. His award-winning campaigns have helped organizations including Tennyson Center for Children and Firefly Autism go from relative obscurity into the public spotlight, resulting in dramatic increases in both community awareness and philanthropic support.  In 2020, and in the middle of a pandemic, no less, he decided to go out on his own as a marketing, communications, and design consultant, which is where he caught the attention of co-founder Max Appel. The two began working on a number of projects including collaborating efforts with co-founder Janice Fritsch, who would complete the trio that would create the organization we know today as Uncommon Sense. Sevick hosts and serves as executive producer for the new podcast, Things You Didn't Know You Wanna Know That You Should Know (or just Things for short), the primary communication tool he also created exclusively for Uncommon Sense. The podcast has realized early successes and significant listener growth over the past year and continues to attract new listeners with each new episode.

Dave earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University, where he graduated with honors, majoring in Graphic Design with a minor in Broadcast Journalism. He attended graduate school at Michigan State University.

In his spare time, Dave produces two other podcasts, and enjoys writing Seuss-style poetry designed for mature audiences. He also enjoys undertaking new landscaping and renovation projects at his home, though he still hasn't quite mastered the art of completing one project before starting another.
